April 2012 Opening Reception
Please join us on Friday, April 6, 2012 from 5:30pm until 9:00pm for our monthly “Opening Reception”. This month we are featuring 2 fabulous artists; Vicki Allen draws her inspiration for her oil and watercolor paintings from travel with her family and the unique culture and warm climate from her home in Corpus Christi, Texas; Grace Huang uses freshwater pearls, crystals and gemstones to create the most unique crocheted jewelry, you are sure to find a necklace, bracelet or ring that will fit any outfit.

Treehouse invites you to our opening reception for Clarice Bookamer, ceramic artist and Debbie Cannatella, award winning watercolorist on Friday, March 2, 2012 from 5:30 pm until 9:00 pm.
Clarice is known for her whimsical, fun “Fish with Attitude” series. Clarice’s ceramics are full of an exciting blending of color and exaggeration. Her work includes Kissy lip seahorses, bright and colorful hibiscus and other coastal flowers and figures showing her unexpected and humorous style.
Debbie is known for her explosion of color, shadow play, and dramatic effects in her portrayal of life moments, architectural works, still lifes and in the organic nature of her florals.

February 2012 Opening Reception and ArtWalk

We all love art, especially at the Treehouse. All of our artists make unique, handmade, one of a kind items. This month we are featuring Norma Gafford and her amazing metal jewelry and wall art. Come meet Norma and enjoy a slice of cake and punch to celebrate Gus turning 6. Who is Gus you ask? Corpus Gus was actually created by one of my co-owners of the Treehouse, Ellen Fehrenkamp. She created Gus to show pride for Corpus Christi and Texas; and Gus was later adopted as a mascot for “Pride Corpus Christi”. Ellen has also created several friends for Gus, “Flora from the Island” a blue Kemps Ridley turtle; “Portland Patty” a white pelican from Portland, TX; “Texas Rowdy” a mockingbird who lives all over the state; and “Penny Plover” a piping plover who is now with the City’s Parks and Recreation Dept. Gus and his friends can all be seen at the Treehouse. There are two other little known friends, “Sammay” a cardinal at Smith Middle School in Sinton and “Chinky” a red fox at Welder Elementary School in Sinton. See you at the Treehouse.

It’s going to be an exciting year in art. Please join us for our Opening Reception on Friday, Jan. 6th, 2012, 5:30 – 9:00pm. We are honored to feature the exciting, new artwork of artist Diane Weiner. Diane found she needed more media with which to express herself and communicate “a multi-dimensional message that was insisting to be shared.” Her new line is called “FAMILIAR ELEMENTS-DEEPER RELATEDNESS.”

Fall is in the air and it’s time to think about the Holidays. We would like to personally invite you to join us for a special celebration of art at the Opening Reception for Corpus Christi featured Artist, Jerry Bass on Friday, December 2, 2011 from 5:30 – 9:00pm. We promise to provide beautiful art for sale and refreshments. There will be live music in the courtyard between the two restaurants during ArtWalk. Dr. Juan Bahamon will be in the gallery also, signing his 2012 Hummingbird Calendars from 6:00 – 9:00pm.

The cooler weather and a little rain has all of us in the fall mood. It’s a nice change and we are changing things around in the Treehouse too. We are bringing in some Christmas and other new items and getting ready for the Holidays
Friday Nov. 4th we will have Harry Angel and Lisa Olsen in the Gallery to visit with you. Each very unique artists with one of a kind pieces of work.

September 2011 – First Anniversary
Our Treehouse has gone the whole year and survived. It’s amazing for us, in the Treehouse, to realize we have come this far. We are signing a new lease with WaterStreet for another year and we’re going to forge ahead. Most all of our Associates are staying with us and we have a few new ones too.
This week we are “TURNING A NEW LEAF”. We will be closed this Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 28th, 29th, and 30th. Again we will be taking everything down and starting over with a fresh look. We will be bring in some new things for you to see.
Friday, Sept. 2, during Art Walk 5:30 to 9PM, we will have our Anniversary Celebration, Cake, punch, wine, dips by Desiree’s Catering and lights and bubbles. Come be our guest and help us Celebrate.
Our DownTown is growing with new businesses popping up every month. Come check it out. Corpus Christi is moving forward and we are so pleased to be a part of it.
